NEW YORK CITY & PARIS – Paris-based VFX & 3D animation studio Monumental FX (www.monumental.art) has formally entered the US market through a strategic but non-exclusive partnership with Modern Post (https://modernpost.com), which has locations in New York and Santa Monica. The longtime collaborators have formalized an existing relationship, giving Monumental a US home base, while Modern Post provides on-the-ground workflow, project management and finishing support for Monumental’s American clients and agencies.

Modern Post and Monumental have collaborated on a range of projects – including Madonna’s Confessions II Tribeca Film Festival short, for which Monumental delivered VFX and finishing. The relationship pairs Modern Post’s US-based workflow, project management, and finishing capabilities with Monumental’s reputation for ambitious, director-driven VFX & 3D animation.

The deal is expressly non-exclusive. Monumental will continue to operate independently and take on work directly, while Modern Post will serve as its US point of contact and workflow partner. Modern Post benefits from being able to call on Monumental FX for heavier visual effects work.
Monumental FX is led by co-founder Germain Robin, VFX creative director Mathieu Jussreandot and head of post production Zoé Deurloo-Maka, who oversees the VFX team in Paris and will serves as a US-facing point of contact. For Modern Post, managing partner/executive producer Charlyn Derrick will oversee the partnership. The move for Monumental into the US follows a steady rise in its US-facing work. Recent American credits include VFX for Nike, Apple, Epic Games’ Fortnite Festival and Madonna, as previously mentioned.
“There’s a lot of creative crossover between our two companies, and this partnership feels like a natural extension of the work we’ve already been doing together,” says Modern Post’s Derrick. “We’re incredibly proud of the finishing work we do at Modern Post, and when a project calls for a bigger visual lift, Monumental has been a natural partner for us. Bringing our teams closer together gives Monumental a real home base in the US, while also expanding what we’re able to offer our clients. We’re really excited about what we can build together.”
“Our goal is to let our American collaborators — whether filmmakers, brands, or agencies — work with us as easily as they would with a local partner,” explains Monumental FX’s Robin. “Being of service to directors has always been in Monumental’s DNA. When we decided to put down roots in the US, we didn’t want to do it with just anyone — we chose Modern Post because we’ve already worked together and we know how good they are. That balance of process and creativity is exactly what we’ve built Monumental around, and it’s what we recognized in them. We’re grateful to be welcomed so warmly, and we’re looking forward to showing up in-person for the US clients we care about.”
