LAS VEGAS – Workflow solutions provider Mesoft is at NAB with new apps and support aimed squarely at the reality TV market. The Hollywood-based company (www.mesoft.com) also announced the addition of post industry veteran Linda White as VP of sales.
Mesoft’s Story Editor, new at NAB, complements Mesoft’s Media Logger, a solution designed to face the challenges of reality TV. “It’s designed to work the way a story editor’s mind works,” notes Mesoft CTO Freddy Goeske.
Once media has been ingested and logged into the Media Logger, users can assemble storyboards using a graphical interface and a simple drag-and-drop process. Clips can be reordered individually or in blocks. Other key features include thumbnails for the easy identification of clips, a nesting file system to organize clips, and a powerful search engine that allows users to locate specific clips through the use of cast names, locations, keywords or other metadata.
“The GUI is powerful, but it’s also simple,” Goeske adds. “You can get more things done with less clutter.”
Mesoft is also showcasing Media Logger’s new support for Sony’s XDCAM HD. Developed in conjunction with Sony, support for the popular cameras will speed the transition from production to post. Resolving a major stumbling block, it will allow producers to take advantage of the new tapeless cameras’ ability to transfer media at faster than realtime speed while delivering high quality audio. Similarly, Mesoft has added support for Avid’s MXF file format and DNxHD, as well as Apple’s Final Cut Pro. This new feature will allow media to be directly imported to and exported from editorial systems without recourse to intermediate file formats.
Mesoft is also showing its new Web-based Content Review and Approval workflow solution. Mesoft’s R&A solution has been completely revamped allowing production decision-makers to collaborate, view and annotate clips and screen dailies from any location through a simple-to-use, Web-based, cross-platform application. It can also be used as a production repository for other assets such as casting tapes, location stills and documents.
The company brought Linda White on board as VP of sales. White has more than 20 years of senior level experience in the post production industry and will oversee the company’s marketing effort as well as seek to expand its sales network in the United States and internationally. She previously served as director of worldwide sales at MTI Film, Hollywood.
“Linda is not only a talented marketing professional, she also has a deep understanding of our clients and the issues they face,” notes Mesoft CEO Patrick Burns. “Her experience will be a great asset in forging new relationships and in educating the market about the benefits of our solutions.”
