LAS VEGAS – At NAB, New Jersey-based Maxell is introducing a compact, light-weight, rugged and shock resistant removable hard drive for field archive operations. The Field Archive Media solution leverages Maxell’s iVDR technology and connects directly to a shoulder-mounted camcorder through a bi-directional USB or e-sata adapter, delivering 10-bit, 4:2:2 master-quality video and native full HD video. In its current form factor, this drive can store 160GB of data and has a transfer rate of 540 Mbps.
Maxell (www.maxell.com) hammers home the ruggedness of the system, which can withstand shock and vibrations. The unit Maxell is showing at NAB weighs 172 grams (0.3 lbs) and is shock resistant from 3.3 feet. The unit will ship in Q2 of 2008; a 250GB drive will follow in Q3.
