LAS VEGAS – Buena Park, CA’s Yamaha (www.yamahaca.com) has upgraded its DM1000, 01V96 and 02R96 digital consoles, following the success it’s had with the upgrade to its DM2000. The upgrades include the use of VCM Technology (Virtual Circuitry Modeling), which simulates analog circuitry characteristics like resistors and capacitors, as well as emulates the sounds of 1970s analog gear.
“The powerful, intuitive VCM technology will recreate the classic sounds achieved in 1970s’ recordings,” notes Marc Lopez, marketing manager for Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems. “While maintaining ease of operation, the Yamaha VCM consoles will provide engineers and producers an unbelievable selection of surround post effects and room acoustics modeling.”
Yamaha’s newest generation of the classic reverb, Rev-X, provides ambience, warmth and realistic, natural-sounding acoustics.
The DM1000VCM and 02R96VCM include Channel Strip (Comp260(S), Comp 276(S), EQ601), Master Strip (OpenDeck), Reverb (Rev-X Plate, Room and Hall), Surround Post (Room E/R, Doppler, Field Rotation), and Vintage Stomp (Max100, Dual Phase, Vintage Phaser) effects. The 01V96VCM features Channel Strip (Comp260, Comp 276, EQ601) and Reverb (Rev-X Plate, Room and Hall) effects.
The VCM upgrades are free for consoles purchased after February 1, 2008. Consoles purchased prior to that date or are considered V2 models and users will have to purchase the VCM effects package separately. Upgrades for the DM1000, 01V96 and 02R96 will be available in May.
