LAS VEGAS – Solid State Logic (www.solid-state-logic.com) introduced Matrix at NAB 2008, a new audio product that is a combination of mixing console, signal router and workstation controller. Matrix – priced at $25,995 – is designed for post production studios whose audio suites are based entirely around digital audio workstations.
The new release will ship in May and includes a “SuperAnalogue” 16-channel, 40-input mixing console with built-in signal router and multi-layer digital workstation control. SSL says Matrix is designed to bring the soul of analog sound into the process of digital workflow by providing the tools to work effectively in both domains simultaneously. In post production, SuperAnalogue signal quality means Matrix and an accompanying SSL X-Rack full of mic pres, EQs and dynamics modules become suitable recording tools for Foley and voice recording applications.

Matrix has comprehensive foldback facilities and integrated DAW control, keeping the transport of sound and picture in front of the engineer at all times. Push-button locate memories and ADR cues make it easy to locate and cycle around to any point in a session. And the system’s simultaneous DAW control capabilities make it suitable for sessions where multiple DAWs are used for effects and broad soundscapes.
