LAS VEGAS – Northridge, CA’s SmartSound Software (www.smartsound.com) is at NAB with a new version of its music library scoring solution that’s scheduled to ship in June. Sonicfire Pro 5 has a number of new features, including Sensory Searching, a music library search function that takes searching beyond the text-only process by using audio and visual cues to help find the right piece of music.
Tapping a rhythm brings up music options at that tempo. A “More Like This” feature incorporates traditional ways of searching — such as by style, intensity or instrument — and adds new criteria to create a list of tracks that share the most musical similarities with a selected piece of music.
The application’s Mood Mapping feature has also been enhanced, bringing additional control and precision to the timing of musical events to match points within a video. Users can get several variations of a score from a specific point in the timeline. They can also grab a beat and place it where it is needed, synchronizing music to an event without the need for editing.
Sonicfire Pro 5 will be offered in two editions: an Express Track Edition that is free with a music purchase, and a Scoring Edition that is $99.95 with a music purchase. Current Sonicfire Pro 4 get a free upgrade to the Scoring Edition.
