HOLLYWOOD – Animation production specialists Super 78 recently used Macromedia Flash to create a humorous campaign for BVK/McDonald and its client, submarine sandwich company Cousins. The light-hearted campaign centers around the company’s subs and features the Cousins animated dynamic duo of Bill and Jim .
In “Celebrate,” the spokesguys are found dancing in a 70’s/Saturday Night Fever-type setting, celebrating the company’s 30-year anniversary. Actor John Ritter’s voiceover declares, “Celebrating 30 years of great subs and some not-so-great dancing.”
Flash was used as a cost-effective alternative to 3D animation and helped maintain Celebrate’s retro look.
Dina Benadon executive produced for Super 78 and Brent Young directed. Super 78’s Jason Fish edited the project and Eli Balser was the animator.
Live action for Celebrate was shot by Apollo Films in LA. Original music came from Trail Mix Studios in Minneapolis and Independent Studios’ Steve Kultgen in Milwaukee mixed the spot.
