NEW YORK – Post stopped by The Molecule (www.themolecule.com) in New York City recently, where the studio was wrapping up a busy year that included work on more than 15K VFX shots for both film and television projects.

The Molecule’s recent TV credits include work on FX’s The Americans, Starz’s Flesh & Bone, HBO’s Ballers, CBS’s Limitless and Elementary, NBC’s Shades of Blue and Hulu’s The Path.

Chris Healer (below) is CEO/CTO at The Molecule. The studio’s workflow is built around Autodesk Maya for modeling and animation, The Foundry’s Nuke for compositing, and Arnold for rendering.

Healer says the studio is looking at new business opportunities that can take advantage of existing infrastructure and skill sets, including Virtual Reality. The Molecule has worked on VR projects for Sony and Samsung.
Audra Coulombe (below) is marketing manager at The Molecule. She’ll be heading to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT, later this month to network and represent the studio’s services. Audra will be blogging for Post while in Park City, sharing her experience at the festival.

Beyond its visual effects work for television, The Molecule is also working on the upcoming films Money Monster and BarberShop: The Next Cut.
