LAS VEGAS – Roland Systems Group (www.rolandsystemsgroup.com) is at NAB with a V.2 firmware update for the Edirol VC-300HD and VC-200HD bi-directional, multiformat video converters. The update incorporates conversion support for 24p and 23.98p frame rates, including progressive segmented frames and pull-down formats popular in high-end HDV cameras.
The VC-200HD and VC-300HD offer bi-directional conversion and scaling between component SD/HD, HDV/DV, DVI-I and with the VC-300HD model, SD/HD-SDI. The activation of the RS-422A on the back panel allows the VC to be remotely controlled making it suitable for post and broadcast facilities that use central machine rooms. Additionally, the newly added four-point gamma correction function enables adjustment of bright/dark parts independently and enhances images to have a more film-like color.
Additional output features include an SDI through function, which allows monitor or split output capabilities on the VC-300HD SDI port. Three user presets can be saved on the units for input signal, conversion or processing and remote control. The VC series will also embed accompanying audio into the DV/HDV stream and embed up to four channels of audio into the SDI/HD-SDI stream. Audio delay adjustments can be made in millisecond or frame increments for lip/audio sync with the video source. In/out sync terminals allow it to Genlock with external devices.
