PARK RIDGE, NJ — In late March, Sony (https://pro.sony.com) announced firmware upgrades for a number of its cameras, including the PXW-Z150, PXW-FS5 and PXW-X400.
Version 2.0 for the Z150 V2.0 will be available for free in July and adds support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) by shooting in Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) standard. There is also now support for high-quality streaming using QoS by network client mode and support for the system link (tally display and synchronized recording) with RM-30BP remote commander and MCX-500 multi-camera live producer (both sold separately). In addition, level settings can now be adjusted in one percent increments.
The FS5 will receive a free V.4.0 upgrade in July. New features include support for HDR by shooting in Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) standard and support for continuous 120fps high frame rate recording in 1080p with the CBKZ-FS5HFR (sold separately). There is also a new option to change the minimum ISO sensitivity number to ISO 2000 from ISO 3200 when recording S-Log2/S-Log3.
The CBK-Z450UK is an optional paid upgrade for the X400, and will be available in early 2017. The 4K upgrade kit gives the X400 the ability to record 4K QFHD (3840×2160) as XAVC Intra and XAVC Long GOP at 50p/59.94p.
