NEW YORK – Zootech (www.zoo-tech.com), with offices in Walnut Creek, CA, showed Version 1.6 of its DVD-Extra Studio DVD authoring application at the NAB Post+ show, here. DVD-Extra Studio is designed to allow developers to fully exploit the DVD-Video specification. Titles authored with the tool can have features and levels of interactivity that were previously limited to CD-ROM and PC environments.
New with Version 1.6 is Menu Regionalization, a feature that allows DVD producers to easily and automatically change text on menu screens throughout the entire product, helping to streamline the production process for creating international versions of the same title.
DVD-Extra Studio 1.6 supports the most important linear features, making it now possible to develop titles that incorporate both linear and interactive elements, all within the single product. The tool also provides a DVD development toolbox for DVD authors which permits the construction of linear titles using both a user interface and an Application Programming Interface (API). This affords flexibility and increases creative possibilities, as frequently changing subpictures can be easily configured to implement animation or other special effects. In addition, developers can populate chapter points automatically throughout linear content to enable resume video functionality with much greater precision than is practical with conventional tools.
