Apple TV+’s Invasion is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. Set across multiple continents, Invasion stars Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Sam Neill, Firas Nassar and Shioli Kutsuna.
Produced by Boat Rocker Studios, the show premiered in October with three episodes and followed with a new episode every Friday, ultimately wrapping with 10.
Brad North, MPSE, serves as supervising sound editor on Invasion and says some of the show’s biggest sound challenges were those for the aliens themselves.

“These aliens had no mouths for vocalization, communicated through ‘hive mind’ signals, had no definitive form, and had a ferrofluid outer shell. Our amazing sound designer, Harry Cohen, had to create sounds and languages for all of the above.”
”The aliens were a composite of many sounds,” Cohen explains. “Among them, pitched down blowing bubbles in yogurt, pitched down stacking metal pieces, pitched down mixing thinset and other things. Since I record in my studio, Izotope RX is an important plug-in for noise reduction, as well as creative EQ-ing.I made heavy usage of the Radium sampler in Soundminer, as well as my usual use of the Kontakt platform. And I have an immense amount of plug-ins for Pro Tools!”
