Danish trio Scarlet Pleasure are known for their unique brand of sunny, alternative pop. Their latest video,
SOS, takes them to a far-away planet where the grass is always green and blue skies stretch as far as the eye can see. In the world of the Scarlet Pleasure Garden, robot vacuum cleaners are your only friend and computer routers grow outdoors like plants.
SOS is from the band’s new LP, “Garden”, which dropped on June 19th. The soundtrack follows a sped-up, slow reggae sound, reminiscent of Sting and The Police.
High production quality music videos from the early 2000s served as the inspiration for SOS, notes Copenhagen Records’ creative director Stine Thorbøll.
“Both on the overall look of the video and the comical twists, we wanted the band to have a lot of different props to interact with in the garden to make the video playful and weird…[It’s] a very obvious human attempt to control nature. We really liked the idea of having high energy band performances in that setting.”
The video was directed by Dolcerocca, who used a Red camera and 12mm, 16mm and 20mm prime lenses, as well as a zoom for the running shots. Exteriors were lit by the sun and simple reflecting boards. The video was edited by Dolcerocca in Adobe Premiere, and Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve was used for the grade. Blue and green screens were used for the VFX shots, which were composited in Foundry’s Nuke.
Scarlet Pleasure is comprised of Emil Goll (vocals/guitar), Alexander Malone (bass) and Joachim Dencker (drums).
