ORLANDO, FL - Provider of image enhancement solutions Teranex (www.teranex.com) will show ScratchOut, a film restoration tool, at NAB.
ScratchOut is designed to enhance Teranex's Starfilm restoration product by adding realtime scratch detection and removal for film-originated, SD and HD material.
ScratchOut is based on Teranex's proprietary DCR algorihm technology, which automatically detects and replaces over 80 percent of scratches in a film in realtime. In the detection stage, the algorithm recognizes pixels that may be a scratch and differentiates them from object edges. These pixels are then compared to a number of characteristics of scratches to eliminate false detections. Scratches are then replaced with matching grain from the surrounding area.
Other features include noise gauge control that allows users to manually set parameters of the noise detection; superior 3:2 pull down handling returns the source material to its original 24 fps rate; and image enhancing realtime unsharp mask provides control of post processing aperture correction.
