LONDON - The venerable Soho-based provider of post services Rushes is now accepting submissions for its sixth annual festival of independent shorts known as the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival (www.sohoshorts.com). The event will run Saturday, July 31st through Friday, August 6th this year and will be headquartered, as in the past, at the Curzon Soho, which will serve as the "delegate center."
Those who are "short listed" will have their films shown at free screenings in bars, cafés and cinemas throughout Soho during the festival. Categories for submission comprise: Short Film, Newcomer, Title Sequences and Idents, Animation and Music Video. All films entered must have been produced in the last 12 months (up to May 7, 2004) and have a maximum run time of 12 minutes.
The competition is free to enter and details on how to do so are available on the Rushes Soho Shorts Web site at www.sohoshorts.com or via the festival hotline at 020 7851 6207.
Soho Shorts is a non-profit event culminating in an annual soiree known for drawing industry luminaries. The event organizers stress that the most important aspect of the festival is the impact that it has on the filmmakers who enter. In past years, winning directors have been snapped up by prestigious production companies immediately after their triumph and many films have gone on to achieve success on the international festival circuit.
