NEW YORK - Having opened just last year, audio post house Gary's Chop Shop is already considering expansion. The studio, which offers audio post services for commercials, TV shows, trailers and music videos, is based around a combination of Soundtracs and Fairlight gear, and hopes to add more of the same this spring.
Part of The Image Group and located in the same building as Blink fx, Gary's Chop Shop is headed by audio creative director/producer/sound editor-designer Gary Arnold, with Ken Harter serving as mixer/composer/sound designer. The main room at Gary's features a 160-input Soundtracs DPC-II console, along with a 48-track Fairlight QDC Satelite system and V-motion hard disk picture playback. The facility also has a Digidesign Pro Tools Mix 24 system.
Since opening approximately six months ago, Gary's Chop Shop has completed projects for ESPN, MTV, Nickelodeon and the NBA. It's also working on a documentary by filmmaker Amos Post on Steve Earle.
