MARLBORO, MA - Playboy TV, based in the UK, has acquired and installed an 844/X editing and compositing system from Media 100, here, which it will use for creating multilayer promotional spots. The company had previously been using dual-stream nonlinear editing systems from both Media 100 and Avid.
Playboy TV is a leading producer of adult entertainment, broadcasting in 200 countries worldwide, and its UK facility delivers Playboy video content across Europe. The company had been seeking a better solution for multilayered spot work, noting that rendering delays were costing time, forcing facility expenses to remain high and hampering creative work with layer-intensive projects.
"Render times on multi-layer jobs have been significantly cut to what is effectively realtime," says John Lally, head of the technical department at Playboy TV. "From a technical point of view it's excellent - both extremely powerful and stable."
Playboy TV installed its 844/X in January and immediately put it to work on its "Free View" program. Shown daily, these 10-minute promotional spots highlight the best of Playboy TV, enticing consumers to either subscribe to Playboy TV or purchase segments via Pay-Per-View.
