LONDON - The Association of Motion Picture Sound (www.amps.net) recently announced Warner Bros.’s Dune: Part Two as the winner of the 2025 “Excellence in Sound for a Feature Film.” Polished bronze AMPS trophies will be awarded to Gareth John, AMPS; Tom Harrison, AMPS; Martin Kwok; Richard King, AMPS; Ron Bartlett; and Doug Hemphill.
Now in its 12th year, the annual awards recognize multiple facets of the sound industry, including outstanding contributions from sound professionals who bring cinematic stories to life through the power of sound. The awards honor key roles, including production sound mixer, supervising dialogue/ADR editor, supervising sound editor or sound designer, and re-recording mixer. Additionally, production sound mixers can nominate a key 1st assistant sound for exceptional contributions, ensuring all critical team members are acknowledged.
The program honors creativity and dedication across five categories: Feature Film, Television Drama, Factual Film, Production and Post Production Audio Products. Last year’s AMPS Feature Film Sound award winner The Zone of Interest also picked up the BAFTA and Oscar in the sound categories.
“The sound for Dune: Part Two was astonishing, and key to immersing the audience in Denis Villeneuve’s expansive world of Arrakis,” notes AMPS chair Andrew Wilson. “It is a deeply impressive piece of filmmaking demonstrating the power of sound as a storytelling device. From the power of the Sandworm ride to the tiniest grains drifting in the lightest of winds the sound is detailed and nuanced, creating a memorable experience. AMPS is honored to recognize the work in sound of Gareth John, AMPS; Tom Harrison, AMPS; Martin Kwok; Richard King, AMPS; Ron Bartlett; Doug Hemphill and their sound teams.”
“We are deeply honored and humbled for the recognition and honoring of our film, Dune: Part Two," add members of the sound team.
