LOS ANGELES – Picture Shop (www.pictureshop.com) has announced plans to build a bespoke facility in London’s Soho community. Set to open in Q4 of 2024, the new boutique will offer infrastructure designed to serve the needs clients creating scripted content.
“We are dedicated to creating environments that cater to our clients’ sophisticated and evolving technological requirements in the US, UK and Canada,” explains Cara Sheppard, president of Picture Shop. “In Soho, the heart of post production in London, we are constructing a facility where our top-tier clients and outstanding talent are excited to work. Every step of this process is being undertaken with those goals in mind.”
The new space is envisioned to act as an artistic hub, and senior colorists Jodie Davidson, Paul Ensby, Sam Chynoweth and Aidan Farrell will all be based at the new facility. Alongside the color team, the studio will be home to senior sound mixers Gareth Bull and James Ridgway. The Soho location will also have accommodations for Picture Shop’s global talent when on assignment in the UK.
Two large theatrical DCI 4K Dolby Atmos DI theatres will be featured at the new studio, along with three 4K DCI theatrical Dolby Atmos audio theaters, four 4K HDR grading suites and four large 4K online suites. The space will employ 12g fiber connectivity and have direct connectivity to Picture Shop’s global locations for remote grading and mixing. In addition to London, Manchester, Bristol, Wales, Pinewood Studios, and soon Soho, Picture Shop has locations in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Vancouver.
“This facility represents the final stages of the integration of esteemed post production brands in the UK into Picture Shop, a process that began several years ago,” Sheppard explains. “Our focus on quality, our industry knowledge, and our flexibility in response to the demands of the marketplace has guided all that we have done. What lies ahead is exciting.”
The facility will be led by Charlotte Laing, who serves as director of scripted content for the studio. Laing will report to Picture Shop’s senior VP in the UK, Nick Platt.
