Hulu’s Under the Bridge is based on author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about 14-year-old Reena Virk, who, in 1997, went missing when planning to meet friends at a party. The series is told through the eyes of Godfrey (Vritika Gupta) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone), and takes viewers into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder.
Geeta Vasant Patel directed the series, while also serving as an executive producer on the pilot episode. Editor Justin Li (pictured) cut Episodes 1, 5 and 6 using Avid Media Composer. He worked from home at times, as well as in the show’s office space.
“I'm particularly proud of the end of the pilot episode,” says Li. “It was a moment I had flagged in the script as something I was excited to edit and thought I could bring a lot to with some crosscutting between the police reviewing footage in the bullpen and Rebecca walking the halls of the holding rooms. Additionally the picture edit and final music used was largely what was in my first assembly of the scene - that vision managed to make it through every stage of the edit.”
