LOS ANGELES — Nexodus (www.nexod.us), the collective of creative directors, VFX artists, designers and tech experts, has appointed Holli Alvarado creative director. She is skilled in project management and estimation, having worked on product 360s for Microsoft, Paccar, Funko, Assurance, ModuMetal and PowerA. Some of her most notable credits include Fear the Walking Dead,
The Queen's Gambit,
Stranger Things,
Wendell & Wild, and Microsoft Xbox, Hololens and Surface marketing.
“It’s rare to find a CD like Holli, who is equally strong with design and photoreal visual effects,” notes Nexodus head of studio, Joseph Bell. “Some studios have a ‘house style’ and people go to them for that. Here at Nexodus, we prefer to develop something tailored for each client. Holli’s boundless creative energy makes exploring different art styles with her an absolute delight. Collaborating with Holli is a breeze, thanks to her upbeat personality and sense of humor.”
Alvarado has worked on a diverse array of design, motion and visual effects projects over the past 20 years, with stints in advertising, product design, video games, film and TV. She creates realtime 3D graphics in Unreal Engine, and photoreal visual effects in Nuke, alongside traditional design and motion tools, like Photoshop, Procreate and After Effects. Her favorite work includes concept development, matte painting, retouching and traditional watercolor.
"I start by picturing what the end of the project will look like, where it will live and what its purpose will be,” explains Alvardo. "Bringing into reality an idea that only existed in a client’s mind moments before is very fulfilling. Whether I’m matte painting, doodling, creating artwork for a pitch deck or working on production assets, I get so much joy out of it all."
