LOS ANGELES — Impossible Objects (www.impossible-objects.co) has promoted Sarah James to executive producer, up from senior producer, a role she’s held since earlier this year. The studio describes itself as a world-building lab that’s made up of a team of artists and engineers who specialize in building projects that marry the physical and digital worlds. IO offers expertise in CG visualization and animation, realtime performance capture, and navigation of green screen and LED volumes.
James attended the University of Georgia and began her career at Energy BBDO in Chicago. She started as an intern and then worked her way up to in-house producer. She later freelanced as an on-set producer before landing at Ethos Studio, where she worked as a post producer. At Ethos, James’ first job was with Diablo/Google Play, which served as her introduction to IO and her gateway into virtual production.
“Seeing everything come together onset - in the volume - it’s a fantastic feeling,” says James of virtual production. “This ability to generate unique environments and visual effects on-set, in realtime, delivers a seamless production approach and previously unparalleled level of flexibility. It helps us do things more efficiently and it allows me to do what I love most – working with incredibly talented agency partners, artists and filmmakers. Being able to do all of this with the incredible team at Impossible Objects makes it absolute perfection.”
James’ credits include post producing a large campaign for Sprite Limelight, a global music experiment in partnership with producer, singer and songwriter James Blake. Other brand collaborations include work with 5 Gum, Forever 21, SC Johnson, Lululemon and Spotify’s “Viva Latina” activation. In her short time with IO, she has worked with Diablo, Dell, Core Power and Merrell.
