MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Squeak E. Clean Studios (www.squeakeclean.com) recently worked with agency VMLY&R Australia and New Zealand to create a visible audio ad - one that only Naval (and audio) experts could decode. The studio’s head of sound in Melbourne, Paul Le Couteur, converted a recruitment image into a sound file and then embedded it into an audio message.
The ad is complete with voice and sound effects, including morse code and whale vocalizations. Would-be intelligence professionals than had to take it upon themselves to analyze the recording, which, when viewed with a spectrogram (the same tool Navy intelligence uses), revealed the hidden visual.
