LOS ANGELES — Award-winning editor Nik Kohler has joined the roster of Cabin Editing Company (www.cabinedit.com). Based in Berlin, Kohler was recently named to the 2022 Young Guns winners’ list celebrating creative professionals under 30. He is available for work globally.
Cabin has offices in Los Angeles and New York, and recently launched a London outpost that is home to editors Emma Backman, Carla Luffe, Dylan Edwards, Robert Lopuski and Sam Ostrove.
Kohler’s approach to editing is heavily influenced by music and sound design. He uses unexpected connections between image and sound to tell impactful stories.
Previously, Kohler worked as a freelance editor on commercials, collaborating with many top directors. He has cut campaigns for Audi, BMW, Bumble, Doctors Without Borders, H&M, Kia, LG, Vodafone and Vogue, to name a few. His recent film The Wish, for German supermarket brand Penny, earned numerous accolades and shortlists for editing, including from Cannes Lions, Ciclope, ADC Global, the Clios and the One Show. Beyond ad work, Kohler has written and directed short films, and is very experienced in cutting film trailers for international studios, such as Warner Bros. and Amazon.
“Nik is a rising star who has built an impressive and varied portfolio at a young age,” states Carla Luffe, partner and editor at Cabin Europe. ”His collaborative approach to storytelling and his innate creativity embody all the things we value at Cabin, and we’re thrilled to have him join our new and growing European office.”
