LOS ANGELES — Bicoastal edit house The Den has added editor Ben Entrup to its expanding team. He has worked across commercials, documentaries and feature films, and has credits that include projects for Apple, Audi, Coca-Cola, Facebook, Fila, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Sony, and Volkswagen. Recently, he edited the German series Souls, which won two awards at the 2022 Canneseries Festival.
Entrup grew up in Berlin and was drawn to editing early in his childhood by observing his parents’ work at a radio station, seeing tapes being cut and scripts rearranged. Directors like Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg then inspired him to want to create worlds out of nothing.
He graduated from the prestigious Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and began his career at production company Markenfilm, becoming an editor for the advertising agency Springer & Jacoby shortly afterward. Entrup later made his way to the US, interning at Final Cut in Los Angeles and New York. He is the co-founder of the German-Austrian ad agency die freundschaft, which he successfully sold in 2013.
“Editing can be very emotional and when you find the right tonality and rhythm for a piece, it’s remarkably satisfying,” says Entrup. “I’ve admired so many of the editors at The Den for a long time and think it is an incredible edit house and new home. I’m thrilled to join this wonderful team and help bringing exciting new projects to life.”
“Ben is an incredibly skillful storyteller,” notes Christjan Jordan, co-founder/editor at The Den. “I’ve found myself watching his work repeatedly, enjoying the intricate layers of the films he’s made, like the ones directed by Jared Leto for 30 Seconds To Mars. We’re beyond thrilled to have him join our crew.”
