LONDON — Jungle Studios (www.junglestudios.co.uk), which creates sound design and music for a range of media platforms, has announces that Chris Southwell has rejoined the company after a decade away, this time as senior sound designer and creative director of The Attic. Southwell began his career at Jungle as a runner, working his way up to engineer. After moving to Unit, he helped build its audio department, becoming head of audio and working on projects spanning TV, broadcast and longform.
Now at Jungle again, Southwell aims to keep pushing the company forward, looking at new avenues within the sound world and upholding the studio’s high standards. As creative director of The Attic - a new branch within Jungle that seeks to meet demand for high quality alternative content - he will also be involved in the studio’s Masterclass Sessions, advanced audio training for producers and creatives.
One of Southwell’s recent credits is the sound design for Incubus, a horror short from Kinosys Films and director Tito Fernandes.
“It’s so good to be back with a fresh outlook,” says Southwell. “I started my career here and have lots of great memories. Jungle engineers don’t leave too often though, so to further my career I joined Unit, where I incorporated Jungle methods and working practices - but I stayed in touch with Jungle and watched how the company continued to push forward and diversify within a constantly changing industry. It was a no-brainer rejoining when the opportunity finally presented itself.”
