MANDEVILLE, LA — Cadence Post (cadencepost.tv) is a recently-formed subsidiary of People Who Think (peoplewhothink.com), an advertising and media company based in Mandeville, LA. Led by head of post production Rick Nelson and People Who Think’s managing partner Jay Connaughton, the boutique post house offers editorial, color grading and VFX services to productions working in the New Orleans area.
The studio’s creatives have worked on content for numerous well-known brands, including Coca-Cola, Mellow Mushroom, Welch's Snack Foods, Chevron, Outdoor Channel and Lifetime Television.
“I think a game-changing component for New Orleans is having an experienced, local facility with the infrastructure to handle post production services at scale,” explains Nelson. "We're a boutique house with the same capabilities as the big guys.”
Because of its south-central location, Cadence Post has positioned itself as an optimal location for those needing post production services who want to take advantage of lower rates than competing studios on both coasts.
“New Orleans has a talented pool of creatives, but freelancers and even some established shops aren’t going to have the enterprise SANs, high-speed fiber, cloud backups and latest tech that are expected in higher-end post facilities,” Nelson explains. “We’ve built and are continuing to expand our physical infrastructure and workflows to meet the demands of the industry.”
With a mission to bring more economic development to Louisiana, Cadence Post, alongside its parent company, People Who Think, is working to encourage companies to post local after wrapping up production in the region.
“With Louisiana truly being the Hollywood of the south, our team has the experience to service commercial, branded entertainment, along with film and TV, right here, without seeing the work exported to companies across the country,” explains Connaughton. “Launching Cadence Post as its own subsidiary truly reflects the commitment, success and growth our video production unit has experienced over the last several years.”
Cadence Post has already curated workforce development in the region by hiring talent from across the country and relocating them to New Orleans. The studio will be seeking additional local applicants over the next 12 months.
"We see an opportunity to help build a future where the next generation of graduates feels they can plant roots in New Orleans instead of moving out of state for their careers,” Connaughton adds. “The business is here, and we're excited to be at the forefront of this industry.”
