NEW YORK CITY — Assembly (assembly.tv), which launched in 2021, has announced the creation of a new beauty division within its VFX department. The operation will be helmed by Josh Laurence and Alan Balian.

Josh Laurence joins Assembly as VFX supervisor, bringing 32 years of experience in the advertising, fashion and feature film industries as a beauty artist. He spent 11 years establishing a premiere film and commercial beauty studio in New York and Chennai, where he supervised finishing on projects for Prada, Chloe, Gucci, Estee Lauder, Maybelline, Pat McGrath, David Yurman, Harry Winston, Tom Ford and many others. He also led teams of artists that worked on projects for major studios, including HBO, Warner Bros. and MGM.
Alan Balian will serve as Assembly’s new executive producer of beauty and luxury. He has worked at the forefront of fashion, beauty and luxury goods content creation for two decades, including eight years at Gloss Studios. Balain’s credits include work with brands such as Prada, Chloe, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Gucci.
Together at Assembly, the team has already developed work for beauty brands such as Pat McGrath, Harry Winston and Zeghani Jewelry, in addition to films featuring Naomi Campbell, Nicola Coughlan, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lawrence.
