Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was honored with several Emmy nominations, including those for “Sound Mixing,” “Original Music and Lyrics,” “Cinematography,” and “Production Design.” Robin Urdang is also nominated for “Outstanding Music Supervision,” specifically for the "How Do You Get To Carnegie Hall?" episode. The show stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam 'Midge' Maisel, a young mother of two who finds her calling as a stand-up comic after her husband leaves her.
“Working on Maisel is as challenging as it is marvelous,” says Urdang. “It’s like shooting a feature film every two weeks, which includes many complex on-camera musical numbers, finding the most obscure songs rights (you) can imagine, recording instrumentation on songs to fix sound quality or make work seamlessly as score, and looking for that perfect hidden gem for scenes; ie: ‘Femininity’ for the Wolford in Episode 408.
“(Directors) Amy (Sherman-Palladino) and Dan (Palladino) have a purpose for every piece of music they use, whether it be a unique or popular song. I am so grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with our amazing music team and with the best of the best. Amy and Dan have created a monster of a show and brought together a wonderful family.”
