BURBANK, CA — Dynamic (www.dynamicrentals.com) recently hosted an indoor/outdoor event dubbed ‘Mini Gear’, which took place the day before Cine Gear Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event was supported with gear from many manufacturers, including Arri, Sony, Zeiss, Codex, Cooke, Fujinon, Teradek, Canon and Frame.io, among others.
Dynamic’s sub-rental business specializes in supporting the rental community with cameras and other filmmaking gear that can bolster their own inventory. In addition of offering tours of the company’s space and tech department, Dynamic also showcased its first-ever accessory product - the Dynamic Bridge Adapter (DBA-1) for Mini LF camera kits.
The Mini LF Ready-to-Shoot Kit does not natively support the use of a stand-alone bridge plate. The process to adapt a Mini LF for use with a BP-8 or BP-9 costs production time and requires the addition of MAP-2A and BPA-4 plates, which are not included in the Ready-To-Shoot Kit. One MAP-2A plate is included for the top of the camera only. This reconfiguration often requires the disassembly and reassembly of the Arri cage.
The DBA-1 helps productions save time when it’s used on-set. Conversions from the CBP-1 or 2 with the DBA-1 are as simple as sliding free from the CBP and sliding onto the DBA-1. No reconfiguration is necessary. This allows for a flexible support system when alternating between handheld, specialty rigs, and other mounting solutions. The DBA-1 also gives the user 3.5-inches of the additional slide, making balancing the camera easier and well suited for gimbal or Steadicam work. The new DBA-1 is now included in all Mini LF sub-rental kit orders globally.
At Mini Gear, masks were required for all attendees and the company’s loading doors were open to allow for plenty of fresh airflow. Cooke Optics provided bourbon and Schneider filters were raffled off. Beyond Dynamic’s LA team, the company’s managing partners and sales team were flown in from New York City, Atlanta and Seattle for the event. Dynamic is considering hosting Mini Gear events in other cities, as well as in the future in Los Angeles.
