BERLIN, GERMANY — Animation and VFX studio Woodblock (http://woodblock.tv) has appointed Conrad Ostwald to the role of head of production. His skills in production management are a key addition to the independent studio’s ongoing mission to streamline pipeline and production processes.
Ostwald began his career at Buck New York, where he spent six years refining his skills in design, animation and project management. He returned to Berlin in 2013, where he freelanced as a motion designer and VFX compositor for a number of leading studios, including Rise FX, Sehsucht and Parasol Island, before joining Foam Studio in 2018 as head of production. In his new role, Ostwald will ensure that projects of all sizes run smoothly, both for the team at Woodblock and for clients.
“Woodblock has always been one of my favourite studios in Berlin,” says Ostwald. “They’re a wonderful team, covering such a wide range of creative and technically challenging productions – whether this is character animations, full commercial campaigns, or cinematic CG shorts. Knowing that there are entire shows in development really excites me both as a producer and a creative. I’m grateful for the opportunity to run these bigger productions whilst developing formats beyond a commercial focus.”
