VENICE, CA — Effects house The Mission (themissionstudio.com) has added Gizmo Rivera as VFX supervisor/lead Flame artist. He brings over 15 years of experience, having most recently served at MPC. Prior to that, he spent time at The Mill, A52 and Hydraulx, where he worked on visual effects for major films such as Avatar,
Iron Man 2,
X-Men Origins and
Wolverine.
Rivera’s specialties include beauty work, character development, projection, particles and complex CG. In addition to his film credits, he has worked on commercials and music videos. Some of his high-profile spot work includes projects for Nike, Coca Cola, Jeep, Lexus, Old Spice, Nissan, Adidas, Audi, Gatorade, Kia, NOS, and Maytag, to name a few.

Rivera was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New Britain, CT, where he loved to draw, read comics and experiment with street art. He followed his childhood dream to become a VFX artist by moving to Los Angeles.
