NEW YORK CITY — Boutique post production shop Wax (wax.tv), with locations in New York and Boston, has promoted longtime staff member Drew Balke to editor. He joined the shop as it was getting off the ground and spent the past five years working on a range of commercial productions. The move not only reflects the shop’s goal of promoting from within and fostering talent across disciplines, but also its ongoing mission of creating a home for emerging visual storytellers.
“Wax is an incredibly versatile company with a contagious energy that stays ahead of the curve in a time of rising digital content,” says Balke. “When I first came on board, I was welcomed into a tight-knit and open-minded team working around the clock. It was the perfect fit.”
His credits include work on Wrangler Icon’s “Fall Winter 2019” Collection, Under Armour’s “Project Rock” campaign featuring Olympic medalist skier Lindsey Vonn, Peloton Tread’s “Uncharted” spot, directed by Academy Award winner Wally Pfister, and Hennessy’s “Major” campaign.
“It’s an honor and achievement when brands and organizations alike trust me to tell their story,” he says. “So much work goes into writing, producing, directing and shooting every project. I take that very seriously.”
“It’s been so exciting watching Drew navigate his career,” adds Wax founder and executive producer Toni Lipari. “He has grown tremendously over the past few years and has really pushed himself to find his creative voice. His raw talent, ambition and drive prove that he has what it takes to be a great editor. We’re very excited to see him continue to grow here at Wax.”
