SAN FRANCISCO —
Design agency Astro Studios (www.astrostudios.com) has promoted Norio Fujikawa to executive creative director, following 14 years spent as a creative director for the studio. Fujikawa brings more than 20 years of design experience to every program he directs at Astro.
Since receiving his degree from the Art Institute of Design in Chicago, he has collaborated with diverse clients, such as Microsoft, Nike, HP, Disney, Samsung, Nissan and Sony, among many others. His passion for emerging technologies has him constantly looking towards the future while his keen awareness of user needs keeps him focused on the present.
Fujikawa’s career includes serving as s
enior designer at Fitch and also working as a freelancer.
“The new role makes what I’ve already been trying to do as creative director at Astro for a while now, ‘official,’” says Fujikawa. “I’ve consistently tried to contribute and lead in any way I can with each of the teams across the studio, not just in the product design realm.”
His promotion is just one future-thinking piece, as Astro continues its journey toward “designing for a new reality,” with corresponding visions related to the future of AI and AR. He believes that everything must be rooted in humanity: “Design is still about delivering quality human experiences, no matter what the ‘product’ is.”
