LOS ANGELES — Framestore put its VFX skills to use on Super Bowl spots for a number of advertisers this year. In addition to work for Pepsi and the United States Marine Corps, the studio’s artistry also appears in a Lexus collaboration with Marvel, and in a :30 trailer promoting Marvel’s upcoming Avengers film, Infinity War.
Pepsi’s This is Pepsi spot was produced by Creators League Studio and director Hanna Maria Heidrich. Framestore handled shoot supervision through to clean-up, with visual effects and multiple versioning. The resulting piece highlights some of Pepsi’s notable endorsers, including Cindy Crawford, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles and Jeff Gordon.
For the :60 United States Marine Corps spot out of JWT, Framestore helped to create a poignant film that reveals the true character of the USMC. A Nation's Call shows that when one takes away the artillery and hardware, what’s left is the integrity of individual Marines. Framestore conducted months of on-the-ground research to deliver a cinematic-quality spot. VFX include the disappearance of a massive aircraft carrier, armored tanks and stealthy bombers.
Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War trailer runs :30 and features popular superheroes that include Black Panther, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The spot hints and some of the VFX that will appear in the summer release.
And for Lexus’ The Road Ahead commercial, which is a marketing partnership with Marvel Studios for its highly-anticipated Black Panther film, senior colorist Beau Leon performed the grade. Leon worked closely with director Samuel Bayer to deliver action-packed color for the :60 spot in which Black Panther takes control of an LS 500.
