NEW YORK CITY — UK-born, New York-based editor Kate Owen has joined post boutique Wax, which has offices in Manhattan and Boston. She brings nearly two decades of experience cutting commercials and films projects. Owen’s credits span fashion, beauty, lifestyle and entertainment projects for brands that include Gucci, Victoria Beckham, Vogue, Adidas, Sony, Showtime, and Virgin Atlantic.
“There is a unique opportunity to create a beauty, fashion and lifestyle edit arm at Wax,” Owen says. “The combination of my edit aesthetic and the company’s legacy of agency beauty background is really exciting to me.”
Her career has included time with editorial companies Marshall Street Editors and Whitehouse Post. Owen garnered multiple industry awards, including One Show, D&AD, BTAA Awards, and a Gold Cannes Lions for her work on Johnnie Walker’s The Man Who Walked Around the World campaign.
“I create in my mind a somewhat Minority Report wall with all the footage on in front of me, where I can scroll through several options in my mind to try out and create fluid visual mixes” she says of her style. “It’s always the unknown journey at the start every project and the fascination that comes with honing and fine tuning or tearing an edit upside down and viewing from a totally different perspective that is so exciting to me”.
“We’re thrilled to have Kate join Wax and bring her beauty and fashion sensibilities to add a new layer to the company,” says managing partner, Toni Lipari. “Her visual sense makes her the perfect addition to our roster.”
