LOS ANGELES — Editor Aika Miyake has joined Cut+Run (www.cutandrun.com), which has locations in London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Austin. Miyake, who was raised in Tokyo and educated in California, is a former drummer who says she edits like rhythms. The result is work that has both heart and soul.
"I am in love with the craft of film editing,” she professes. “Weaving all the beats, movements and feelings together to create a bigger wave is what I live for. The more you edit, the more you learn. Editing has taught me nothing in life is ever completely black or white, and with every project I discover another dimension of this world. I’m excited to dive into new waters with Cut+Run to see what it will bring to me.”
“Aika is a tremendous creative talent and passionate about the craft of editing,” notes Cut+Run managing partner Michelle Eskin. “She brings an interesting perspective from her work in Japan, and we are excited to add another female force to the roster.”
Miyake has collaborated with the likes of Wieden + Kennedy, Nike, Dentsu, TBWA, Mercedes Benz, and BMW. Her Nike Air Force 1 Force work was shortlisted at Cannes for Editing, and her Mom’s First Birthday for Pampers was honored at numerous award shows.
