NEW YORK — Post recently received a tip that visual effects studio The Mill (www.themill.com) had undergone layoffs at its Chicago and Los Angeles locations. According to this tip, the Chicago studio had let go of nine employees, while the LA studio had released 20 team members. The company also has locations in New York and London.
Upon reaching out to The Mill for comment, we received a statement from CEO Robin Shenfield, who says: “Over the last couple of years our Mill studios in LA and Chicago have grown rapidly. However, we now feel that the shape of our business in both these sites is slightly out of sync with the demands of the market. Regrettably, this has resulted in a small number of people leaving these two studios as we reset our operations to more successfully trade the market. While unfortunate, this reset does not reflect a negative view of our outlook for 2017 and beyond. On the contrary, we are extremely positive about the opportunities in a market that is rapidly changing and plays well to the evolving proposition of The Mill.”
