SANTA MONICA, CA — Killer Tracks (www.killertracks.com), the provider of pre-cleared production music, has launched a new label called Icon, which features music for movie trailers, television promos, advertising, sports, games and other media. The initial release includes 16 albums that were created and produced by composers Frederik Wiedmann and Joel Goodman, founders of independent music producer Icon Trailer Music.
The collection runs the gamut, from rich, melodic orchestral scores (many recorded with live orchestras), to cutting edge electronica. Also included are a large selection of alternate mixes, bonus elements and trailer toolkits. All 16 albums are available immediately for licensing in the US and internationally.
“We are thrilled to represent Icon in the production music market,” says Killer Tracks director of marketing, Andrew Donahue. “Frederik and Joel are gifted, versatile composers who write music brimming with emotion and energy. Their tracks are extremely functional, and expertly crafted to work well with picture.”
Icon was founded by Wiedmann and Goodman in 2011 and initially focused on orchestral trailer music. The company has since expanded beyond that niche, both creatively and conceptually. “We spend a lot of time researching trends and market demands,” explains Wiedmann. “We anticipate where the market is headed and are working with edgier and more contemporary styles.”
Icon produces music with editorial in mind, creating tracks with numerous edit points, creating alternate mixes, and providing stems and musical toolkits. The composers are expected to produce approximately five new albums for the collection each year.
Partnering with Killer Tracks provides Icon with access to the world market and an association with a respected, established brand. “Killer Tracks is known for quality and has been producing music at a high level for a long time,” Goodman says. “It also has tremendous market share in the US and abroad. We look forward to enjoying great exposure.”
