SAN FRANCISCO — GoPro introduced their new Fusion virtual reality camera at an event held in late September, and immediately began taking pre-orders. Priced at $699.99 and set to begin shipping around November 30th, Fusion offers seamless stitching, allowing users to created VR content without lines getting in the way.
The 5.2K camera is waterproof to 16 feet and can be controlled using voice comments. In addition, GoPro includes the Fusion Grip with a built-in extension pole and tripod. Fusion is equipped with two offset lenses and built-in stabilization that works very much like a gimble. The ‘overcapture’ feature allows the camera to capture all angles at once. Users can then decide which angles they want to view.
Fusion is compatible with the GoPro app, and GoPro has plans to release free Mac and PC plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects that will allow users to add text to VR content, as well as re-frame footage.
