SANTA CLARA, CA — Assimilate (www.assimilateinc.com) is showing Version 8.6 of its Scratch solution, which is designed for dailies, conforming, color grading, compositing, finishing and mastering. New product highlights include expanded support for HDR functions, numerous new formats, a more user-friendly UI, and more efficient DIT tools. In addition, Assimilate’s Scratch Play review and playback tool gains support for new 2D, 3D and VR formats.
Version 8.6 of Scratch allows users to easily mix and match HDR and SDR material as well as create multiple deliverables in a single project. PQ and HLG transfer functions are now an integral part of Scratch’s color management. Scopes now automatically switch to HDR mode if needed and show levels in a nit-scale. Settings are now automatically included in the video-output signal to the reference monitor, including color space, color primaries and white levels, and luminance levels.
Format support has been expanded with the addition of Panasonic Varicam LT DNG and the ability to create 10-bit H264 SDR or HDR output in resolutions up to 8192x6144.Avid roundtripping has been simplified with a new high-speed DNx MXF encoder for OpAtom and Op1A, including DNxHR. Performance has also been improved for QuickTime and XAVC MXF playback.
