BURBANK, CA — For those that missed NAB this year, The Editors’ Lounge will host a post-NAB evening on Friday, April 29th at 6:30pm. The evening will feature an up-close look at all the latest from Blackmagic Design, GLOOKAST and RE: Vision Effects’ new plug-in for 360 video, RE: Lens. The event will be hosted by AlphaDogs Post Production and will be held at their facility, located at 1612 W. Olive Ave., Ste 200, Burbank, CA.
Blackmagic Design will showcase the DaVinci Resolve 12.5 update, which includes 250 new features and more than 1,000 upgrades. There will also be a demonstration of the integration of Resolve and Fusion with compositing, animation and 3D all in one application, allowing users to easily build sophisticated composites by simply connecting nodes together.
Michael Krulik, principal solutions specialist with Avid, will reveal what’s new with Avid NEXIS. Designed for independent editors, audio post pros and smaller post houses, Avid NEXIS|Pro provides the high-speed performance needed to accelerate workflows. Users can work with their choice of Avid and third-party systems while getting data protection, flexibility and scalability.
Craig Risebury, director of sales, and Dave Euson, solutions architect, with GLOOKAST will be on hand to show the latest tools available with Gloobox Ingest Solutions and Glooport Media Services. GLOOKAST solves the complexity of capturing, sharing, managing, converting and distributing 4K digital content across multiple platforms, from multiple sources at multiple resolutions. Attendees will get an up close look at how to seamlessly capture and ingest media while easily parking on multiple platforms to create customized files with the use of media/transformer, media/parker, media/retriever and media/connector.
Anthony Magliocco, VP of business development, and Lori Freitag, content and training manager with RE: Vision Effects, will present their newest plug-in for 360 viewers, RE: Lens. Lens can create panoramic videos from a single camera with a fisheye or super fisheye lens, allowing the creation of 360-like videos, no stitching required. RE: Lens can unwarp (defish) action camera shots, convert super fisheye and ultra-wide footage to normal lens perspective. Users can create or animate a virtual camera to follow the important action, where two or more views can be set up. More than just pan and scan, users are able to rotate where they are looking as well as create video panoramas from a single camera with an extremely wide field-of-view. Magliocco will discuss the requirements of what’s needed to get started in this new world of immersive content.
The Editors’ Lounge (www.editorslounge.com/nextevent.html) is free to attend, but an RSVP is required. Attendees should bring their favorite beverage. Editors’ Lounge will provide the food.
