— Chaos Group (http://www.chaosgroup.com) has released
V-Ray for MODO, a rendering system optimized for large productions and photoreal design projects. V-Ray for MODO is seamlessly integrated and optimized for both CPUs and GPUs, using whatever an artist picks to deliver high-quality imagery and animation quickly, even when working with complex 3D scenes.
V-Ray for MODO operates under the same core technology as V-Ray, a standard in visual effects, broadcast and architectural design projects. With a complete interactive lighting, shading and rendering toolkit at their disposal, artists and designers have full control over the entire creative process, from real-time look development to the final frame.
“If my experience with the MODO community has taught me anything, it’s that MODO modelers are among the best around,” says David Tracy, communications director at Chaos Group. “I can't wait to see what ‘MODOnauts’ create now that they have access to V-Ray."
Additional Features Include: V-Ray Denoiser — automatically remove noise and cuts render times by up to 50 percent; Virtual Reality Cameras — render VR-ready content for popular virtual reality headsets, using two new cameras (spherical and stereo cube map); Ray Traced Rounded Corners — generate perfectly smooth edges at render-time with no extra modeling; Proxy Objects — fit massive scenes into memory and cut render times using load-on-demand proxy objects; Volume Rendering — render optimized volumetric effects and import OpenVDB files.
“Modeling with ease and intelligence has always been important to artists and designers,” adds Shane Griffith, The Foundry’s MODO product marketing manager. “Now MODO users can benefit from V-Ray's production-proven renderer, expanding their capabilities for professional content creation and design communication.”
V-Ray for MODO is available now for the Mac OS X and Windows platforms. A full workstation license of V-Ray for MODO can be purchased for $700, and includes a new online licensing option.
Promotional pricing will be available until July 20, reducing the V-Ray for MODO workstation license to $556. This discount is accessible through The Foundry store and Chaos Group resellers.
