CHICAGO - Bam Studios (www.bamstudios.com) provided sound design and mixing services for Maya Angelou and Still I Rise, which debuted at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. The feature follows a young Angelou through pivotal experiences that transformed American history, weaving in archival photographs and videos of the famed poet and activist. It also includes notable interviews of Oprah, Quincy Jones, and Hillary and Bill Clinton, among others.
Reed’s team collaborated with directors Rita Coburn Whack and Bob Hercules to complete the mix within just a week’s time. The project was spread throughout four of Bam’s audio suites. Reed attended the premiere at Sundance, alongside Whack, Hercules and Angelou’s grandson Colin Johnson. Stephen James Taylor composed the original soundtrack. David Simpson and Lillie Benson edited the project.
