Editors' Lounge to present ACES workflow & monitor shootout

BURBANK, CA — On Friday, June 26th, the Editors’ Lounge will host a special evening focusing on ACES, the Academy Color Encoding System, which is designed to unify the production, editorial, color management, file interchange and archiving processes. The event will be held at AlphaDogs (1612 W. Olive Ave., Suite 200 Burbank, CA 91506) starting at 6:30pm.

Alex Forsythe, Academy technical lead, ACES Project, Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, will open with a presentation about what ACES is and how it works. There will be a focus on editorial and post. He will be joined by digital intermediate colorist Trent Johnson of Deluxe Culver City, and editor Shelly Westerman, who will discuss ACES's real world applications. The duo collaborated on The Wedding Ringer, a film that employed ACES throughout the creative process

The June 26th event will also present a Monitor Shootout, with side-by-side presentations of reference-grade LCD and OLED monitors from Sony, Flanders Scientific, Boland, and TV Logic. These color-critical screens will be lined up in a row under controlled lighting conditions while displaying the same content, so that attendees can move from monitor to monitor and evaluate them in a way that can't be done at a trade show booths. Company representatives will be on-hand to answer questions.

The Editors’ Lounge is a free event. Presentations will begin at 7:00pm. Register online at: http://www.editorslounge.com/nextevent.html.
