SANTA MONICA, CA — Editorial house Nomad (www.nomadedit.com) is diversifying its business with the launch of a new visual effects and finishing division. The business will be led by executive producer David Ziek, whose career includes time at Digital Domain. His credits span film and commercials, with contributions to features such as Tron and
X-Men: First Class, and spots for Nike, Microsoft, and Mercedes-Benz.
In addition to their Santa Monica headquarters, Nomad has studios in New York, and London. As executive producer, Ziek will be responsible for bringing in a wide variety of projects and overseeing them from bidding through post. On the production side, Ziek will be responsible for streamlining the existing pipeline and leveraging resources from all offices to increase efficiency and better position Nomad to take on more creatively-demanding projects. He is also tasked with customizing teams across all the offices to fit specific projects.
“I’m really excited to be here helping Nomad launch their VFX division,” notes Ziek. “One of my favorite things about the company is its scalability. We certainly have the resources to tackle any size job, but at the same time, we’re still a small shop that gives personal attention to each project. All jobs are priority jobs.”
Ziek spent five years as a VFX producer at Digital Domain. From 2005 to 2009, he served as senior VP at Pangea Pictures.
