LAS VEGAS — Blackmagic Design is showing an alpha version of Fusion 8 at NAB 2015. The visual effects and motion graphics software, which until now was only available on Windows, will see Mac OS X and Linux releases later this year.
Back in November, Blackmagic began offering Fusion on Windows for free, and released Fusion Studio for $995. The upcoming releases will further enable VFX pros working on their choice of platforms. Fusion comes with hundreds of tools that allow users to pull keys, track objects, rotoscope, retouch images, animate titles, and create particle effects, all in a true 3D workspace. Fusion can also import 3D models, point cloud data, cameras or even entire 3D scenes from Maya, 3DS Max or Lightwave and render them seamlessly with other elements.
With the new update, customers will be able to install and use Fusion on the same computers they use for editing and color correction.
