Axle Video launches new mobile editing app; software update

BOSTON — At NAB 2015, Axle Video (www.axlevideo.com) premieres an expanded product range with new capabilities and new solution partnerships that extend both the workflow and the appeal of the company’s "radically simple" approach to media management.

Axle Edit offers workgroup-connected rough cut editing for iPad and iPhone. It is designed for mobile journalists as well as media producers/assistants who need a quick and convenient way to create rough cut sequences. Featuring touch-based subclip selection and sequence assembly on a timeline, local or server-based media can be intuitively edited. Media can be played back in low resolution, then rendered in high-res formats on the axle server. Axle Edit is intended for producer/editor workflows where media is captured on mobile devices, then integrated with other media on main storage.

Also, the company features Axle 2015 with increased scale, improved UI speed and layout, and REST API:  a completely re-architected platform that more than doubles scale to over 600,000 media assets, addressing a common requirement for broadcasters and larger post production and marketing organizations.

The company is also launching a new UI. Its browser-based user interface gains numerous refinements that extend workflow capabilities and increase speed within a cleaner layout. Production teams will benefit from the greater speed and agility in planning, pre-edit, and review and approval workflows.

For the first time, Axle 2015 now directly supports importation of a range of camera formats including P2, Canon C300, and Sony XDCAM. More formats are planned.

Axle 2015 software starts at $1,695 for five users and is shipping; Axle Edit software starts at $795 for two users and is shipping.
