AMD's FirePro W-series helping to power M&E demos

SUNNYVALE, CA — AMD (www.amd.com)is partnering with a number of hardware and software manufacturers at NAB to show enhanced 4K workflows. The company’s FirePro W-series of professional graphics cards are being used in demonstrations by Adobe, The Foundry, Autodesk, Blackmagic Design, HP and Dell at this year’s show.

OpenCL accelerates features for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (part of Adobe Creative Cloud) and allows editors to be more creative with color than before. Adobe is also showcasing an all-new OpenCL-powered Morph Cut feature for making jump cuts look natural and seamless.

The Foundry’s node-based Nuke compositor, Modo 3D modeling, and Mari 3D paint tool are all being run on Apple Mac Pros with AMD FirePro D700 GPUs.

Blackmagic is showing DaVinci Resolve and Eyeon Fusion using the technology. And both Dell’s Precision workstation family and 
HP’s Z workstations feature AMD technology.

Additionally, AMD is announcing the new FireRender plug-in, based on contributions from Render Legion s.r.o., developers of the Corona Renderer, for rendering functionality in major software applications using AMD FirePro W-series professional graphics. Autodesk is demonstration the FireRender plug-in with 3DS Max and Maya with OpenCL accelerated Bullet Physics and deformers powered by a workstation with AMD FirePro W9100 professional graphics.
