NEW YORK — On Wednesday, November 12th, Post’s Marc Loftus moderated a panel at the CCW+ SATCON show in NYC. The one-hour “Rebuilding the World Trade Center: Curating Over Eight Years and a Million Frames of Film” session looked at director Marcus Robinson’s historic documentary. In addition to Robinson, the panel featured Technicolor-PostWorks New York colorist Eli Friedman and re-recording mixer Christopher Koch, along with independent editor Leo Cullen.
The project represents more than eight years of work documenting the reconstruction of the New York City landmark. The project contains large amounts of time-lapse photography of the construction, as well as interviews with the iron workers, engineers, and architects who came together to build the largest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. It was culled from more than 35 hours of time-lapse photography and 500,000 film frames. Both 60-minute and 90-minute edits have been completed, and Robinson says he will continue documenting the construction until the other two buildings planned for construction are finished, which could take another five to seven years. Ultimately, there will be a two-hour edit that the director hopes will see theatrical presentation.
Rebuilding the World Trade Center was broadcast in the US on History and in the UK on Channel Four.
